The ABCO Difference

We don’t just build shops, we build relationships.

First, we promise to give you excellent service and that starts with our team.

To be a member of our team you must align with our core values.

Integrity

If we commit to something we follow through. We are accountable and we take responsibility for our successes and our failures.

Problem Solvers

We are problem solvers on and off the job site overcoming obstacles and leaving no issues for others to solve.

Care

We take pride in our work while caring about the specific needs of our customers and our team.
We believe that our team members are family.
Our team is our most important asset, so we do our best to make them feel valued, pay them a good living wage and provide them with medical benefits. This ensures that our team is happy to be serving you, that they take pride in their work, and they respect you and your property. Our team prides itself on keeping your property as clean and organized as possible. We start each week with a team meeting to go over things that went well, and things that we can improve on.
The most important part of any relationship is

Communication:

We believe that communication is the most important part of any relationship, which is why we promise that you will never be wondering what is going on with your project. When you call or email us, we answer. If for some reason we don’t answer, leave a message, and we will get back to you shortly. Big, or small, we send someone out to meet with you on-site to look at your project. We send you an email reminder 24 hours before, and a text message reminder 1 hour before every scheduled site visit. The estimates that we send are clear, thorough, and give you options to choose from. You will be introduced to a foreman/project manager that will be your point of contact throughout the entire construction process. If you speak fluent English there will never be a language barrier between you and one of our team members.
Something lost long ago in the construction industry is

Honesty:

We believe in honesty, doing our best to not over-promise and under-deliver. We don’t lie to you about costs, start dates, etc., just to get our foot in the door and win the job. We do our best to give you realistic expectations. We don’t skip around from one project to the next leaving things unfinished while over-promising and under-delivering to multiple customers resulting in everyone being unhappy. Once we start your project, we stay on your project until it is completed. Even if you add to the scope of your project, we do our best to complete it while we are already there. We don’t ask you for large down payments to get on our schedule so that we can fund our current job with your money. You don’t get charged unless something is being produced. You won’t get nickeled and dimed over minor adjustments to your project, and we will make sure that you are satisfied with the work we completed before you receive an invoice
The most important part of the construction process is

Design:

We believe that design is the most important part of the construction process, so we give it the time that it deserves. We listen to what is important to you about your project, and what you are trying to accomplish, so that we can help you design the project in the most efficient way to accomplish your goals. This ensures that we both have a clear expectation of what we are providing you with. This eliminates surprises, and the need for change orders. Even if you are only requesting a rough estimate, we still provide you with a simple 3-D rendering along with all our recommendations on the best way to construct your project without you having to ask. We have relationships with architects and permit consultants the we will introduce to you. They keep us in the loop so that we can provide advise throughout the design of your project. We offer multiple types of shop construction, giving us the ability to inform you about the best way to construct your project rather than making the shoe fit because we only offer one type.

Next, we promise to provide you with a top-quality product. This is the fun part:

We understand that building a new shop is a large investment, so we do our best to protect your investment by constructing your project to be as beautiful as possible while keeping maintenance to a minimum. Our projects add value to your property so that you can rest assured that your money is still there, just in a different form. Some specific construction practices that we follow are listed next.

Basics:

  • We plan the finished product and do not build as we go.
  • We use high quality materials and install them in a way that ensures there will be no future issues.
  • We install materials according to the manufacturer’s specifications so that they will be warrantied if there ever was to be an issue.
  • We don’t rush our team members if we underestimate a project, which would result in cut corners.
  • We always double check the work of our team and that of our subcontractors.

Layout:

  • We spend additional time laying out your project, making sure that it is plumb, level, and square to ensure that you have proper transitions and placement which makes a huge difference on the outcome of the project.

Footings & Poles:

  • We pour a 6” concrete footing at the bottom of our holes to prevent settling.
  • We wrap our poles with acrylic flashing to prevent rot from soil contact.
  • We backfill our holes with concrete for added strength.

Lumber/Framing:

  • We pick through all lumber as best as possible so that you end up with a nice-looking product, and we crown all lumber to prevent sagging.
  • We brace our framing members so that they end up as straight as possible, eliminating the possibility of misses when installing metal siding and roofing.
  • We block our overhangs every two feet to prevent the fascia from sagging, which also allows for a soffit.
  • We caulk all bird-blocks to seal up and assure that you do not see daylight from inside the building.

Proper Attachment, Fasteners, and Placement:

  • We make sure that all attached structures are done properly with the right sized fasteners sinking into the correct structural members to prevent the structure from separating, causing damage and possible injury.
  • We use the correct fasteners for interior and exterior applications to ensure that they do not corrode causing damage and safety concerns.
  • We install a breathable vapor barrier on the exterior of every building to prevent your building from sweating which prevents your framing from soaking up moisture.
  • We measure and layout the placement of all fasteners to ensure that they look straight, in line, and properly placed.

Metal Roofing, Siding, and Trim:

  • We pre-drill all our metal siding and roofing to ensure that you have perfectly aligned fasteners.
  • We order custom, full length metal trim for every part of the exterior to ensure that you get the cleanest look while having no wood exposed to the elements.
  • We make sure that all structures are properly flashed to prevent water damage.

Warranty:

  • Our labor is covered under a lifetime warranty. If you took our recommendation and there is something that we could have done differently to prevent an issue, we will cover it at no cost to you.

Finally, we promise to complete your project as efficiently as possible. We don’t waste time.

We are ORGANIZED:
You cannot be efficient if you are not organized. Nothing is more frustrating than taking more time to look for something than the time it would take to complete the task at hand. We are constantly working to keep our construction yard, shop, office, work trucks, trailers, and job sites clean and always organized. We do our best to run a tight schedule so that we can minimize switching gears on projects. No member of our team is a robot, so we make lists so that tasks can be prioritized by importance, and nothing is forgotten. We are always creating systems for how things are to be done and thinking of the next step before we get there.
That’s it. Theres nothing to it!
