FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
& GENERAL INFORMATION
Service Areas:
A one-hour radius from Oregon City.
If you are outside of our service area, feel free to give us a call to see if we can accommodate you, or refer you to someone that we trust.
Scheduling:
- We are typically scheduled about 8-12 weeks out, but we make exceptions for smaller projects or urgent situations.
- When ready to start your project, let us know by responding via email or phone. You will be sent additional information to sign. At that point, you will be given a TENTATIVE start date. As we get closer to your project start date, we will provide a more accurate timeline.
- It is very diffcult to hold an accurate schedule in our line of work. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not being truthful.
- When customers add to the scope of their project, we try to complete the extra work while we are already there.
- Once we show up to start your project, we will be there through completion. We do our best to not skip around and over-promise and under-deliver to our customers
Materials:
- Material suppliers will not hold materials at their location. Materials will be delivered to the job site within approximately one week of placing the order. Once materials have been delivered to the job site, they are your responsibility
Warranty & Labor Details:
- All labor is covered under a 5-year warranty.
- Labor will not be warrantied for unforeseen causes, acts of mother nature, vandalism, lack of proper care, mistreatment, adverse weather conditions, or natural characteristics of wood such as weathering, cracking, splitting, shrinking or expanding.
- All materials fall under the material supplier’s and/or manufacturer’s warranty.
Permits:
- Permits are project specific, and will depend on what you are wanting to build, the size, and the jurisdiction that you are in. You will need a permit for just about anything that is over 200 sq. ft. and attached to your house.
- If a permit is required, we can handle that for you, but ultimately it is your decision on whether to permit or not.
- Permitting your project will add time and expense. The cost of architectural drawings, permit fees, engineering, and labor to work with the local municipality is generally $2,500-$4,500 depending on project size and complexity.
- If you decide not to permit a project even though a permit is required, then you are liable for any repercussions. Those generally consist of going back and proving that construction was done properly and to code (which is how we build things).
- The most common way people get caught is from nosy neighbors who like to make waves and the truth of the matter is that a lot of homeowners build things without even knowing that a permit is required. We inform our customers about permitting so that they are educated enough to make their own decisions.
- Smaller, simpler projects can get through the permit process in 3-4 months. Larger, more complicated projects can take 4-6 months. Once we have permits in hand, we are halfway done!
Payment:
- For quotes that include materials, a deposit of 50% is due on the day work starts, and the remainder is due upon completion.
- If a project has any special-order or non-returnable materials, you will be required to pay a deposit before we place the order.
- Payments made by credit card will be charged an additional 3%.
