OUR GOALS
Giving our customers excellent customer service, providing them with a top-quality product, and completing the project as efficiently as possible.
We strive to continually improve the way we build through use of best practices and choice of materials. Even if our customer is looking for an economical solution, we still ensure that it is done properly and in a way that keeps maintenance to a minimum. Our projects add value. We believe that it is better to spend more money and do something right the first time so that it doesn’t have to be re-done.
EVERYONE TELLS YOU THAT THEY DO TOP QUALITY WORK.
HERE’S OUR PROOF:
Customer service:
When you call or email email us, we respond. When you have a problem, we solve it. We may be more expensive than some contractors but we don’t nickle and dime our customers over small adjustments. No matter the size of your project, we are here for you when you need us. We communicate the best we can regarding our process, schedule changes, material deliveries, etc. We keep our job sites clean and tidy to minimize the construction impact because we are aware that you live there. Before we send you an invoice, we make sure that you are 100% satisfied with the work performed.
Variety:
Because we offer all types of shop construction, we have the ability to inform our customers about the best way to construct their building rather than selling them on one type and making the shoe fit.
Design/Permitting:
We often provide you with a simple sketch with your estimate to prevent confusion. We work with a team of architects, engineers, and permit specialists should your project need any of these services. We calculate the structural members of all our projects to ensure your safety and the lifespan of your product. So that materials will be warrantied if there were ever to be an issue, we always read all the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
Layout:
We spend additional time laying out your project to ensure that you have proper transitions and placement which makes a huge difference on the outcome of the project. We also spend additional time ensuring that the project is plumb, level, and square. We greatly utilize string lines to ensure that the finished product looks good to the eye.
Footing and Poles:
We pour a 6” concrete footing at the bottom of our holes to prevent settling. We wrap our poles with acrylic flashing to prevent rot from soil contact before backfilling the holes with concrete for added strength.
Lumber sorting:
We pick through all lumber as best as possible so that you end up with a nice-looking product. We crown all lumber and install it crown up to prevent sagging.
Framing:
We brace all our framing members so that they end up as straight as possible, eliminating the possibility of any misses when installing metal siding/roofing. We block our overhangs every two feet to prevent the fascia from sagging. We caulk all bird-blocks to seal up and assure that you do not see daylight from the inside of the building. We install blocking between all joists and rafters directly over the beam. This greatly increases shear strength and resistance to uplift while keeping all framing members straight. We install knee braces on most all projects because it greatly increases shear strength, restricting movement.
Proper Attachment, Fasteners, and Placement:
We make sure that all attached structures are done properly with the right sized fasteners sinking into the correct structural members to prevent the structure from separating, causing damage and possible injury. We use the correct fasteners for interior and exterior applications to ensure that they do not corrode causing damage and safety concerns. We also measure and layout the placement of all fasteners to ensure that they look straight, in line, and properly placed.
Implementing steel:
We use steel in our construction process whenever it makes sense. Whether it be a bracket, post, beam, etc. Steel is much stronger than wood, and it does not split, crack, twist, or splinter. This ensures a safer, better quality product.
Insulation/vapor barrier:
We install an R11 rated e-foil insulation/vapor barrier on the entire building shell. If our customer doesn’t want to pay extra for the benefits of the e-foil, we still install a breathable vapor barrier. This prevents your framing from soaking up moisture. It is very difficult to install a vapor barrier later.
Metal Siding, Roofing, and Trim:
We pre-drill all our metal siding to ensure that you have perfectly aligned fasteners. We order custom, full length metal trim for every part of the exterior to ensure that you get the cleanest look while having no exposed wood to the elements. We strongly recommend using a hidden fastener roof system which ensures that you will never have a roof leak. Exposed fasteners deteriorate over time, eventu- ally start leaking and then need to be replaced.
Exposed Wood/Proper Flashing:
We make sure that any lumber that is exposed to the elements is either meant for exterior use, covered with metal flashing, or is top quality and pre-primed before installation. We make sure that all structures are properly flashed to prevent water damage. We cap the ends of all exposed beams with metal flashing to prevent any possibility of rot.
